New Home Textiles collection ‘Pascale by Clarysse’
I am delighted to present 'Pascale by Clarysse', my new HOME TEXTILES collection.
Anyone who is familiar with the kind of atmosphere my books exude will be aware that I love nice materials. There is something magical about the combination of ceramics, wood and fabric on a dressed table. Something which is also reflected in the photos seen in my books. Fabrics soften the ceramic tableware and imbues it with a warm glow. Finding the right napkin, the right tablecloth or even the right kitchen towel proved quite a challenge. So there is good reason why I hooked up with Clarysse.
The approach we decided on when we embarked on this new line late last year was to come up with unexpected, authentic products that create a homely and convivial atmosphere that oozes comfort. In doing so, I was keen to use the same tones, albeit with different textures, to tie everything nicely together. The result can be seen in my book Real Food (Echt Eten). I like everything I create to be functional as well as gorgeous and playful.
The multi-purpose cloth I use as a dish cloth for instance is an apt example. Actually, it’s too nice-looking to be used as a dish cloth, but that is exactly the fun bit. Its charm and allure take away the drudgery of everyday household chores, giving you a little chuckle and making you feel all fuzzy inside. Or how about a table runner you can use as a scarf and as a plaid?
The entire project was very pleasurable from start to finish. I found myself assisted by a small team of hardworking and creative women at Clarysse, experts in their field, who know the job inside and out. Working with a Belgian company was a deliberate decision on my part. And it was lovely to see what Clarysse has already achieved and which international players of repute the company serves.
The outcome of this collaborative effort is now in the shops. 18 unique products in warm colours with blue as one of the main hues.
I hope to see my collection act as a source of inspiration for anyone who loves attractive utility linen. And I am hoping to quite literally instil some colour into people’s homes, especially in these extraordinary times where we are forced to stay indoors and cocoon.
